We are seeking an experienced Commercial Plumbing Project Estimator to support preconstruction and bidding efforts for commercial and institutional plumbing projects in Sarasota.
Schedule: Full-time
Compensation: $80,000–$110,000 per year (based on experience)
Position Summary:
The Commercial Plumbing Project Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and technically sound cost estimates for commercial plumbing projects. This role manages the full bid lifecycle, from document review and quantity takeoffs through proposal submission and project handoff, ensuring scopes, costs, and risks are clearly defined prior to contract award.
Key Responsibilities:

Review and analyze bid documents, including architectural, MEP drawings, specifications, addenda, and owner requirements

Perform detailed material, labor, and equipment takeoffs for commercial plumbing systems using digital estimating software

Prepare accurate cost estimates, budgets, and formal bid proposals

Manage the full bid process, including pre-bid meetings, deadline tracking, and proposal submission

Solicit, review, and evaluate pricing from vendors, suppliers, and specialty equipment providers

Identify project risks, scope gaps, exclusions, clarifications, and constructability concerns

Develop value engineering options to improve efficiency and reduce costs while maintaining quality

Collaborate with project managers, field leadership, and executives during bid reviews

Maintain historical cost data and assist with post-bid reviews and job cost comparisons

Ensure estimates comply with applicable codes, local jurisdiction requirements, and internal standards

Support the transition from preconstruction to operations by providing clear scope, budget, and labor assumptions
Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 years of experience estimating commercial plumbing projects or related project management experience

Strong knowledge of commercial plumbing systems, including sanitary, domestic water, and gas piping systems

Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software (e.g., Trimble, Procore, STACK, or similar)

Strong computer skills, including Microsoft 365 applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Ability to read, interpret, and visualize construction drawings and specifications
